Extensive Experience
The following is a selection
of some of the applications our staff has developed:
Marklin Trains:
model train company
Thomas Pumps:
company that makes pumps and air compressors
- Created a rotating text Java applet on home page (in the
What's New Section -- lower right side of page): http://www.thomaspumps.com
- Trade Shows:
dynamically generated page with flat file database backend.
Database contains the name, date, location and URL of tradeshow,
as well as the directory path of the trade show logo. All
database records for future trade shows are pulled in dynamically
based on date. Trade shows that occurred in the past are
not pulled in.
Thomas Pumps Sales
Resource Center (password protected extranet website):
- Website was built using Active Server Pages (ASP) with
a SQL 7.0 database. Dealers can log in, and the site is
personalized for them. Displays their company name, their
Customer Service Rep, their Sales Rep, and their account/order
information, including order history for the last 2 years.
Froedtert Hospital
- E-Commerce Applications: Built two real time credit card
processing e-commerce applications for Froedtert using CGI
and Verisign's Payflow Pro. One was a membership
registration program for Small Stones, their health
resource center, and another was an online bill payment
process where patients of Froedtert Hospital could pay
their Froedtert medical bills online.
- 10,000 Steps: To promote exercise, Froedtert Hospital
has online tools that visitors can register to use to track
how many "steps" they take in a day. The person
wears a pedometer, and at the end of the day, he/she logs
into the website and enters how many steps they took. A
log is kept for how many steps per day, the total number
of steps taken since the person registered, average steps
per day, etc.)
- Today's Feature: On home page, text under the Today's
Feature section (left side of page) is rotated daily that
highlights one of the hospitals specialty centers, or upcoming
events, etc.
- Transplant Patient's Diary: Created a diary of a Transplant
Patient who was waiting for a donor. The patient provided
the copy that detailed her day-to-day hopes and fears, and
feelings and frustrations as she waited for a new liver.
This application was created using CGI and XML and when
it originally launched, it displayed one entry with 8 additional
entries added once per week for 8 weeks. The CGI script
worked with the XML to pull the entries that were supposed
to appear for the given week, along with any previous entries.
E-Stamp Corporation
- E-Commerce Application: In addition to maintaining the
website, our staff managed an online mailing supplies store
of nearly 100 different items and implemented the following
dynamic functionality:
- Free shipping on some items and not others
- Buy 1 get 1 free offers
- Dynamic Cross-Sell/Up-Sell opportunities (e.g., if
someone was on a page that described padded envelopes,
the cross-sell/up-sell suggestion might be for labels;
or if someone was on a page that described bubble wrap,
the suggestion might be for packing tape.). The cross-sell/up-sell
suggestion was an additional field in the product database.
